Scoma's, the quintessential destination restaurant, is backed
by a family tradition of quality and service since 1965. Voted "Best
Restaurant" five years running by WHERE Magazine readers, Scoma's
Restaurant continues to be one of the most popular restaurants in
the United States.
In 1965,
brothers Al and Joseph Scoma took over a six-table coffee shop for
fishermen on the pier, and, over time, built the restaurant into
its current 360-seat operation. Using their mother's recipe collection
as the basis of their menu, the Scoma brothers complemented one another
in their business endeavor. Joseph was the itinerant front man, actively
promoting customer traffic and satisfaction, while Al tended to purchasing,
quality inspection and building a strong business foundation. Al
Scoma is still active in the business serving as the Chairman of
the Board. His son-in-law Tom Creedon, a former San Francisco firefighter,
was recruited to the business in 1978 to manage the day-to-day operations.
Scoma's is located on Pier 47 and Al Scoma Way, off of Jefferson
Street at the foot of Jones St., serving more than 450,000 customers
annually -- a mix of both tourists and loyal locals. Its popularity
has endured throughout the years, and it was chosen as the most popular
and accommodating San Francisco restaurant in a survey conducted
among business travelers.
A true family affair, Scoma's continually seeks to provide a memorable
San Francisco experience. |
